The Turkish coat of arms, or the National Emblem of Turkey, features a red shield adorned with a crescent moon and an eight-pointed star. The crescent moon and star have been important symbols in Turkish culture and are also featured on the Turkish flag. Above the red shield is an eagle with outspread wings, which is a symbol of strength and power. The eagle also wears a ribbon with the words "Türkiye Cumhuriyeti," which translates to "Republic of Turkey." The current design of the coat of arms was adopted in 1925, shortly after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.
